His & Hers by Alice Feeney

I received His and Hers by Alice Feeney as an ARC from Goodreads and Flatiron Books.

I rated this book 4 out of 5 pages. The reader is introduced to Anna Andrews, a news anchor, who will stop at nothing to further her career. Aside from Anna, the reader is also introduced to Jack Harper, a detective with a special connection to Anna. Both are brought together after a woman is found murdered in the woods, a woman from their past. While investigating her murder on two different fronts, Anna and Jack are forced to confront their indiscretions, their personal lives, and the secrets they hid all these years. As if this is not enough to contend with, Anna must fight to keep her job, Jack must fight off suspicion of involvement in multiple murders and both must form a united front to take care of Anna’s mother and her rapidly declining health.

This book was extremely hyped up and I was eager to read it when I received it. It did not disappoint but, in my opinion, it was a slow start and at times felt repetitive. The chapters alternate between Jack and Anna and another view- one that is left anonymous until the end. Could the third view be Anna? Jack? Or another of the many complex characters? After all, it seemed everyone had a secret they were carrying around. I enjoyed the mystery shrouding the characters and the flashbacks Anna had of her childhood and just how cruel young girls could be.

As the story line unfolded and the list of characters grew, I found the book to be twisty and thrilling. I wanted to figure out the truth and towards the middle of the book, I found myself reading faster and faster to find out what everyone was keeping secret. The ending was not what I expected and that is what pushed me from rating this book a 3! This book was a wild ride, and I would highly recommend it to anyone really into psychological thrillers! I left this review short because I did not want to give too much away but this is a must read. You will not be disappointed!
