The Crow Girl by Erik Axl Sund

The Crow Girl (Victoria Bergman, #1-3)

I rated The Crow Girl by Erik Axl Sund 4 out of 5 pages.

Terrifying thriller doesn’t even do this book justice. It’s gruesome and intriguing with deep psychological twists and turns. It’s also very dark and deals with some heavy topics such as rape, child porn, incest and mutilation of young children. It is not for the weak of heart.

The reader is taken into the minds of Detective Kihlberg and her investigation of a mutilated child. She finds this is only the beginning. Along with her partners, she dives deep into a world of depraved killers and rapists, finding some of these people to be the ones that are supposed to be upholding the values of family and protection. While juggling an open investigation, she’s forced to deal with her own personal issues and sexual identity.

The reader is introduced to other supporting characters such as Victoria, Sofia and Madeline who give just the right amount of edge and nail biting for the novel and who are also extremely well developed. The book does jump around a bit but the author does a nice job of tying up lose ends in the finale. Of course, at times, I felt certain portions dragged on, some plots could’ve been left out or certain characters were irrelevant but all in all, I would recommend this read to someone who is big into psychological thrillers.
